The Stamp

The Vietnam Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) issues the stamp set "Dragonflies" with four stamps introduce four kinds of dragonfly found on the southern Phu Quoc Island (Vietnam). Two of them, Lyriothemis mortoni and Rhyothemis obsolescens were first discovered in Vietnam in 2007 by Ho Chi Minh City-based non-profit organization Wildlife at Risk (WAR). The stamp designs bear the logo of WAR (Wildlife At Risk) and Philanippon '11 to promote wildlife protection in Vietnam. Nguyen Vu Khoi, director of WAR, said publication of the stamps is a way to give credit to research and studies on biodiversity in Vietnam, creating a database for wildlife preservation and raising public awareness.

There are nearly 300 dragonfly breeds in Vietnam.
